On August 16, 2006, the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) entered into force in Malaysia. The PCT International application may be filed at the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) by submitting the completed form PCT/RO/101 together with the patent specification and the prescribed fee. With this accession to PCT by Malaysia, an applicant who files an international application on or after August 16, 2006 in a country other than Malaysia for registration of a patent through the PCT route, may file the national application in Malaysia within 30 months from the filing date or the priority date of the international application, whichever is earlier.
